To paraphrase Sartre, writing is a profound act of freedom and responsibility, an appeal to the reader’s freedom to co-create meaning, transforming the world by disclosing it to others and challenging the status quo through ideas. He wrote that words are “loaded pistols”, which aim to engage the reader in understanding and shaping reality, rather than escaping it.
